GENESIS KEY CHAPTERS DISCUSSION AND THOUGHT QUESTIONS: The following discussion questions can stand alone or be used in conjunction with the Key Chapters podcast. They can be used in a Small Group, family discussion, or for personal reflection. The idea is that the person/group/family will have read the Key Chapter and then answer the questions. Perhaps there would be time to listen to the podcast as well.
1. In verse 1, what command did God give to Noah? How was this like the command He gave to Adam and Eve?
2. In verses 2 & 3, what dominion did the Lord give to Noah?
3. Why did God command Noah not to eat animal’s blood in verse 4? What were some of the reasons for this command suggested in the podcast? How does this command relate to the early church’s practices in Acts 15:21?
4. What are God’s commands regarding humanity in Genesis 9:5 & 6? How are these different than the cavalier attitudes about life represented by Lamech back in Genesis 4:23?
5. In verse 6, why is the life of mankind uniquely precious?
6. What kind of promise did God make with Noah in verse 8? Why is this term so significant for our understanding of God and His dealings with mankind?
7. What suggestions does the podcast give for how can God have wrath towards sin but not still pour it out upon us every time we sin?
