About the Art of Racing
The Art of Racing is an initiative that celebrates the legacy of George E. Mitchell and honors individuals who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to the Park Heights community. It is part of the partnership between 1/ST and the Park Heights Renaissance and includes the George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and the George E. Mitchell Park Heights Community Fellowship Grant. The Art of Racing commemorates the Preakness Stakes, one of the most iconic sporting events in Maryland, through modern visual interpretations. Artists from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and across Maryland provide their artistic interpretations of Maryland's time-honored tradition of Thoroughbred racing. Tiffany Holmes, MICA's Chief Academic Officer, plays a key role in this initiative, bringing her expertise in digital media art and a passion for art and design education to the project.
