Extracurricular activities like sports, theater, and clubs are essential part of the Catholic school experience. These teams and clubs help build students into good leaders, employees, team members and faithful Catholics. This is especially true when the school has the right program to build these future leaders.
This week, host Marianela Nunez and co-host Mike Bress explore this topic with two local administrators who have implemented such a program at their school. Sr. Marianne McCann, former principal at Paul VI High School and current Director of Leadership Formation for the Office of Catholic Education and Donna Camardo, recently retired math teacher and girls’ basketball coach at Paul VI High School, join the show to talk about the “Play Like a Champion” program out of the University of Notre Dame. Along with sharing the genesis of the program and some success stories, the group discusses high school sports in general, the need to not only work with the players, coaches but also the parents, and how the program can be implemented on the elementary school level.
