In this episode you will hear a raw, unfiltered and vulnerable conversation between 3 moms about the experience of motherhood from conception to the teen years. We talk about all the difficult emotions that come with this job like isolation, loss of control, failing to meet cultural expectations, and the primal internal need to "get it right." We also talk about the gift of having other women in our life who are also on this motherhood journey and how they support us, give us perspective and ultimately make us better and more joyful mothers. Motherhood is a common female experience, and yet it can feel so isolating. You will hear so many shared laughs of knowing in this conversation. Because even if the experience looks different on the outside, the internal experience is often very much the same.
This conversation also made me realize how much that internal experience is the same no matter what phase of motherhood you are in. The details may be different, but that desire to get it right, always questioning our choices and decisions, feeling like you want them close and you want some distance all at the same time and feeling like we lack control remains the same. Motherhood is the ultimate experience of surrender and that is one of the reasons I think that motherhood is such a spiritual experience. My children have taught me SO much. The lessons have often been hard, but so worth it. They have cracked me open and made me a better person. How about you? What has motherhood taught you? Do you think that you are a better person for having become a mom? If so, how?
