Paul's first epistle is written to defend the true gospel: justification by faith alone apart from any works. The truths in this letter remind us all that the Christian life is relational. We begin by faith and receive life by the Spirit; growth continue by faith as we walk in the Spirit daily. This rejection of a legalistic version of Christianity reveals the purpose of the law, faith and the work of the Spirit in the salvation and sanctification of all people.
