You know what voice you haven’t heard in a while? That would be our beloved co-host Mary McCusker who rejoins us for the first time since January after successfully defeating COVID. Thank God! And she brings with her one of our favorite people who we’ve been wanting to have on the podcast for some time, one of Catholic Charities’ finest and most passionate representatives, Melissa Hruska. For more than eight years, Melissa has filled countless roles – from working the Superstorm Sandy disaster response, to managing Catholic Charities operations in multiple counties, to continuously working directly with the most vulnerable individuals and families across the diocese. Melissa dives into where her personal drive, energy, and empathy comes from – and how she’s been able to stay true to the mission of Catholic Charities despite witnessing some of the most devastating pain and suffering in South Jersey over the years. This is a great episode that showcases the heart & soul of Catholic Charities mission and the people who bring it to those in need.
