On October 27, 2007, 38-year-old Joel Lovelien and his fiance Heather donned costumes to attend a Halloween party at the Broken Drum lounge in North Dakota. At 11:30 PM, Joel went outside to answer a call on his phone, after returning to Heather to tell her he needed to help someone outside, he left the bar. Shortly afterward, he was found in the parking lot severely beaten and choked to death on his own blood.

With a list of witnesses and suspects at the bar that night, we discuss what could have happened to Joel and how an evening that should have been a celebration ended so tragically.
