Jason has family in Mendocino County, and while he was in the area on May 8, he sat down for a conversation about radio, his work covering the global pandemic, and why stories from around the world matter.

He has spent most of his career in the developing world, and has a reputation for being willing and able to cover disasters. So when news came of an outbreak of a novel virus in Wuhan, China, he tried to get in to tell the story. Since then he has reported on the scope of the pandemic throughout the world, and has shined a light on the stark inequities revealed by the global response.
