My dad, Bob Abraham, actually bought Eliza Doolittle books full of elocution lessons to make him sound less like a poor, working-class, bum from New Jersey. He was his own Professor Henry Higgins. And it worked! He got a job a BBDO as an illustrator and then worked in the Ad World of NYC like Don Draper, who also worked so hard to come across as an NYC fancy boy. Proper English isn't White it's Highfalutin!
