People have a lot of questions about Noah's Ark and the flood; they also have a lot of misunderstandings! Today in our study of Genesis 7, we'll address some of the most common questions and misunderstandings of the flood and see that the biblical account clearly is possible. Join us!
GENESIS KEY CHAPTERS DISCUSSION AND THOUGHT QUESTIONS: The following discussion questions can stand alone or be used in conjunction with the Key Chapters podcast. They can be used in a Small Group, family discussion, or for personal reflection. The idea is that the person/group/family will have read the Key Chapter and then answer the questions. Perhaps there would be time to listen to the podcast as well.
1. How does a biblical understanding of “kinds” and species help us see how Noah could get the animals on the ark?
2. What stage of development were most of these animals likely at when they came onto the ark? Why?
3. How did these animals come to be on the ark? Did Noah have to set traps for them? Why or why not?
4. We tend to think of the animals going on the ark two by two, but what does verse 2 tell us about the number of each clean animal? What are some possible reasons given in the podcast for why there may have been so many clean animals brought onto the ark?
5. People often characterize the flood as being the result of heavy rain. While rain contributed to the flood, what does verse 11 indicate was another key cause of the flood?
6. What explanation is given in the podcast for how the water could cover the mountains, in verse 19-20?
7. The flood destroyed all that breathes on the land. How did the podcast suggest that plant life would survive?
8. What does Genesis 7 show us about…God’s provision? His holiness and wrath towards sin? The salvation He provides?
