With a Smart Cities Plan approved in 2015, Rockhampton Regional Council has been on the smart cities journey longer than most in Australia. This regional city in Queensland has used technology and data strategies to spark an economic development agenda that has supported its diverse economy - from mining and agriculture to education and tourism.
