Dwight D. Eisenhower, in his famous parting address from office, warned his fellow Americans against the danger of what he called the "Military Industrial Complex".

Unfortunately, not warning could have been enough to prevent what it was then and has turned into now as all of humanity is tied to it's bloodthirsty whim on a global stage. And those supposed to be in control of it seem only to be feeding the beast on the very precipitous of WWIII.
