In this episode, Zach Shaw and Steve Lorenz check in on the Michigan men’s basketball team following the transfer portal deadline, and take a look at where the Wolverines stand.
They begin with an assessment of Hunter Dickinson’s decision to return to Michigan without even testing the NBA Draft waters. They discuss what it means for the Wolverines, and also take a look at how Dickinson can improve in his third season with Michigan both as a player and leader.
The two next turn to looking at 2021-22 bench players who could emerge as breakout stars next season, then look at the addition of now-likely starting point guard Jaelin Llewellyn, a graduate transfer from Princeton.
In the second half of the episode, the two discuss the NBA Draft declarations of Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan, who both declared while retaining their collegiate eligibility. They discuss each player individually, looking at their situations and what it means for their upcoming decisions.
Finally, Lorenz and Shaw take a look at where Michigan’s likely roster puts it in the scope of the Big Ten and the nation’s top teams.
