Cannabis and Topical Creams

Welcome back! Rate, subscribe, tell us what you like or don’t like!

Why is this topic important?

-I think for several reasons!

-A) We’ve talked about creams but have never dedicated a show to it

-B) There are sooooo many applications for it

-C) No psychoactive properties, so this is great for grandma!

-D) Harmless introduction for a newbie to cannabis!

-E) All Natural and very effective alternative

-F) -Pain is a big driver that brings people to opioid addiction or harsher drugs to treat that pain.

So let’s get into it!

What are topicals?

-Topicals are cannabis-infused balms, lotions, sprays, and oils that are absorbed through the skin for localized pain relief…different that vaping or taking a tincture/tablet, which will target all areas of the body.

-We’re seeing that Cannabis creams can help with pain, discomfort, and inflammation.

-Sometimes when we get this relief, we get it from Opioids, which can cause unwanted side effects such as nausea, constipation, addiction, and then we’re talking about cannabis use for a whole other ailment to treat!

-You can often find strain specific topicals as well with both the terpenes and cannabinoids, sometimes other herbals are thrown in there as well.

How do they work?

-You have receptors all over your skin, so they will bind to the CB1/2 receptors to provide localized relief…they don’t enter the blood stream, so their effects will remain where you put them, and thus also won’t travel up to your brain to give you that nice little buzz!

-Transdermal Patches- These actually DO reach your bloodstream and can cause psychoactivity

-Since CBD won’t spark addiction, this may be something we need to consider instead of possibly vicadin next time you have an intense back pain or something?

What ailments can I treat with topicals?

-muscle soreness, tension, inflammation, psoriasis, dermatitis, itching, headaches, and cramping.

-A THC-rich rub infused with cooling menthol and peppermint is a perfect way to wind down from a brutal workout or hike. For intense localized pain, you may try a warming balm that combines the deep painkilling properties of cannabinoids with a tingling, soothing sensation.

-THCa and CBD together (NOT THC), are both great for inflammation when you put them together.

How I use topicals?

-Inflammation on my knees (High CBD)

-Any irritation from working out that’s a result of inflammation

-Pain relief from cuts (High THC)

-Cuts from dry hands

-inflammation for my sinuses

-stomach upset

-acne-stops sebaceous glands from producing too much oil, reduces inflammation
