The Ascension of Sinai is the Ascension of the Temple

The two sets of tablets are the Higher and the Lower Laws. The Children of Israel reject the opportunity to "see the face of God" which happens at the veil. They reject the Higher Law, the Melchizedek Law. Could the Golden Calf be a representation of Jehovah made into the image of the Children of Israel? Do we make God into our own image?
