Non-obstetric surgery during pregnancy happens. Historically, general surgical procedures were avoided in the first trimester because of fear of pregnancy loss; General surgery was avoided in the 3rd trimester because of fear of preterm birth. But are these fears real? New data say, “no“! Is external fetal monitoring recommended during these procedures? In this session, we will summarize and highlight one of the February 2020 MOC review articles on non-obstetric surgery during pregnancy.
