For a few minutes there in the first half, Los Angeles Football Club was on its way to MLS Cup. A free kick strike from midfielder Eduard Atuesta in the 17th minute opened the scoring in the Western Conference Final against the Seattle Sounders and allowed the black and gold faithful to dream of hosting the championship game.
However, it was not to be. LAFC allowed three unanswered goals to Seattle, losing the match to the Sounders 3-1. It was LAFC first ever loss to Seattle and the club's third loss at home in all competitions in 2019. Seattle's physical playing style frustrated LAFC enough to knock the team off of its path to glory. Instead of the Bradley Bowl, MLS Cup 2019 will feature Seattle vs Toronto III. An excellent match up, but not the one LAFC fans want or expected.
How will LAFC's 2019 season be remembered now that the club has failed to lift MLS Cup? Ryan Wallerson of the Southern California News Group and Alex Dwyer of MLSsoccer.com weigh in on LAFC's performance against the Seattle, break down match play-by-play as told by Dweezy's game notes and discuss the season as a whole now that the playoff run is over.
