SAFER (Symptoms of Anosmia for Early Recognition) Card With Dr Sarah Davis

Sarah Davis MD is a board certified family medicine physician.  She launched her concierge medical practice in Dallas almost 20 years ago, the first of its kind in the area.  She has built up a very successful practice using this model, which many have emulated.  In 2020 as the pandemic was raging  she wanted to find a way to screen patients for COVID in a simple cost effective way.  She had witnessed that very few of her COVID patients had a fever, so doing temperature screens did not seem very effective.  When her own daughter contracted COVID she was struck by the symptom of anosmia, something she had not encountered in any other infectious diseases.  She set about to create a simple cheap way to check for anosmia and the SAFER (Symptoms of Anosmia for Early Recognition) Card was born.  Pairing a web based app with a scratch off scent enables the user to quickly find out if they have a diminished sense of smell.  Designing a product and going through all the stages of launch from building the technology to sales and marketing has been an incredible learning process.
