Rotten Butterbeer Podcast: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1

Logan and Ali are back for our penultimate episode of the Harry Potter binge, this week discussing Deathly Hallows part 1, and while it drags at times, this movie is 2.5 hours of setting up for the final battle between Harry Potter and Voldemort. We look back at the 12 year journey of the release of the HP movies, and compare the production to 'Boyhood' and Avengers, but there has really never been a blockbuster series as ambitious in its' scope as the HP franchise. We then dive into the narrative and discuss themes of choices, redemption, and morality as the trio branch off from their yearly Hogwarts excursion to attempt to destroy all the Horcrux's. A journey that separates them from the wizarding world for much of the plot, before being thrust back into the Malfoy's residence for an epic conclusion, and maybe the saddest death in the whole series. Harry and Co have to confront everything from their past before being able to move on to the final battle against Voldemort and all the corruption and hatred he represents in the wizarding world, but does David Yates stick the landing?
