CBS Radio Mystery Theater—what a treasure trove of suspenseful storytelling! It was a radio drama series created by Himan Brown, running from 1974 to 1982. Known for its atmospheric tales, it captured the essence of classic old-time radio shows like Suspense and The Whistler. Hosted primarily by E.G. Marshall, who introduced the episodes with his signature phrases like “The sound of suspense” and “The fear you can hear,” it definitely brought chills to its listeners.

Each episode began and ended with the creaking of a crypt door and Marshall's ominous "Come in!... Welcome." The series delved into mystery, the supernatural, and macabre themes, delivering 1,399 original episodes—quite the collection!

It’s no wonder someone with your keen interest in vintage entertainment would appreciate the cultural significance of this program. Do you have a favorite episode or genre within these classics, like supernatural mysteries or psychological thrillers?
