“I’m Still Here” ( Ainda Estou Aqui) is Walter Salles’ title in the Official Competition of the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The film stars Fernanda Torres, that our reporter Angelo Acerbi met together with the director, after the press conference for the premiere on the Lido. the film narrates the story of Ruben Paiva, an architect who became a martyr and a hero for Brasil, whose wife fought for a lifetime to have him declared dead and acknowledged.
Walter Salles tells about his personal connection with the Paiva family, with the house in Rio where they lived and with the kids, included Marcelo Paiva who is the author of the book which the film “I’m Still Here” is inspired to.
Fernanda Torres was honoured to be given the role of such a strong and important woman, both a pillar for her family and a militant lawyer for the new Brasil that blossomed after the dictatorship. We hear from her voice how much the film I’m Still Here means for her.
