In this episode of 1050 Bascom, we were grateful for the opportunity to talk to Anton Shirikov, a Ph.D. candidate in the Political Science department. Anton studies media, propaganda, misinformation, political polarization, and trust. Before graduate school, Anton worked as a journalist and an editor in Russian media. In an interview conducted last Friday afternoon, we asked Anton about his time as a journalist and how his research speaks to how Russian independent and state media covered the crisis at the Ukrainian border leading up to the invasion of Ukraine earlier this week.
