During July of 1518 a Mrs. Troffea inexplicable broke out dancing and was unable to stop. Over the course of a month up to 400 people joined her on the streets, seemingly against their wishes. The dancers suffered bouts of heart attacks, strokes and exhaustion and many of them didn't live to see the end of the jig.
