This week on Fockham Hall, I was joined by Dr Sarah Myhill for a wide-ranging conversation on health, diet and what she sees as the failure of symptom-led medicine. We began with her background as a conventionally trained GP who later moved into independent practice in search of root causes rather than repeat prescriptions. From there, we explored ketogenic and carnivore-style eating, time-restricted eating, autophagy, food addiction, blood sugar control, and why so many people report steadier mood and energy when they cut back heavily on carbohydrates. Dr Myhill also shared practical thoughts on allergy, gut health, dairy, oats, cramp, skin conditions, vitamin D, K2, magnesium, homocysteine and ferritin testing, along with why she believes people should understand their own bodies better rather than simply masking symptoms. We also took a raft of listener questions, covering topics such as microclots, mast cell activation, vertigo, hiatus hernia, type 1 diabetes, continuous glucose monitoring, vitamin C, iodine, cannabis and inflammation. Along the way, Dr Myhill referenced other doctors, researchers, books and tools that have shaped her thinking, including Patrick Holford’s Food for the Brain work, Dr Ian Lake’s type 1 diabetes advocacy, Jane Plant’s writing, Stephanie Seneff’s work on glyphosate, and glucose monitoring tools from Abbott and Dexcom. It was a lively, provocative and highly detailed discussion that gave listeners plenty to think about, whether they agreed with every point or not.Food For Thought Radio: https://www.fftradio.com/Dr Sarah Myhill Supplements & Workshops: https://www.salesatdrmyhill.co.uk/Dr Sarah Myhill Workshops: https://www.salesatdrmyhill.co.uk/workshops-41-c.aspLugol's Iodine 15% (Dr Myhill shop): https://www.salesatdrmyhill.co.uk/lugols-iodine-15--30ml-463-p.aspPatrick Holford: https://www.patrickholford.com/Food for the Brain Foundation: https://foodforthebrain.org/Food for the Brain Homocysteine Test: https://brainhealthcheck.foodforthebrain.org/product/homocysteine-test/Dr Ian Lake / Type 1 Keto: https://type1keto.com/FreeStyle Libre (Abbott UK): https://www.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/home.htmlDexcom UK: https://www.dexcom.com/en-GBYour Life In Your Hands by Jane Plant: https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/401351/your-life-in-your-hands-by-plant-jane/9780753512043Toxic Legacy by Stephanie Seneff: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/800928/toxic-legacy-by-stephanie-seneff/Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride / GAPS: https://www.drnatasha.com/Dawn Lester & David Parker / What Really Makes You Ill: https://whatreallymakesyouill.com/Robert Cathcart paper on vitamin C bowel tolerance: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0306987781901262Fred R.
