On January 6, 1979, Cyril Belshaw, a prominent Canadian anthropologist, is on holiday in Paris with his wife Betty Joe. When they are due to meet for lunch, Betty fails to show up. But three months later, the mysterious body of a woman is found under a bridge and many believe it is that of the missing woman.
