On this episode of WellBuilt, Jon spoke to Rikard Steiber, Founder & CEO of GoodTrust.
Rikard is a serial internet entrepreneur and tech executive with experience successfully launching and growing digital businesses at global companies including Google, Modern Times Group, HTC VIVE, and Einride.
When Rikard’s father passed away in the spring of 2020 and the world entered into a state of fear with the pandemic, an interesting and thought-provoking question struck Rikard: do any of us know what happens to our digital stuff when we die?
As Rikard explored this concept further, he discovered that most people have no idea. For Rikard, this was an epiphany and opportunity.
We spend an average of more than six hours connected to the internet every day. We trust countless services with our most treasured content: photos and videos of the family, financial and banking accounts, our thoughts and memories through social media, our communications, and more.
Most people don’t like to talk about death. We share this experience with everyone on the planet but it’s borderline taboo. GoodTrust wants to empower people to take action to ensure that their digital legacy isn’t lost forever. They also want to help people with every aspect of estate planning and end-of-life directives like creating a free will. They also offer engaging ways for people to share their life stories with their loved ones through a digital time capsule with Future Messages and with new technologies like AI and facial recognition with GoodTrust Memories.
Rikard is an interesting guy - beyond what they’re doing at GoodTrust, they got into how building a death or life tech company impacts his view of life, his upcoming trip to space w/ Virgin Galactic, and more 🚀
