Choose Wisely
Luke 10:38-41

Main Point: God is glorified as we wisely chose to sit at His feet to hear His voice.

Not choosing to sit at Jesus’ feet results in us:

1. Becoming distracted in life.

• Luke 10:39-40a And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at  [a] Jesus’ feet and heard His word.  40  But Martha was distracted with much serving,
• Colossians 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  2  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
• Hebrews 12:1-2a Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  2  looking unto Jesus, the  [a] author and  [b] finisher of our faith,

2. Dictating to God.

• Luke 10:40b and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
• 2 Corinthians 12:8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
• Luke 22:42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

3. Finding yourself discontent in life.

• Luke 10:41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things
• Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
• Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Punto Principal: Dios es glorificado conforme escogemos sentarnos a sus pies para escucharle.

No escoger sentarnos a los pies de jesucristo resulta:

1. En que estemos distraidos.

• Lucas10:39-40a Esta tenía una hermana que se llamaba María, la cual, sentándose a los pies de Jesús, oía su palabra.  40  Pero Marta se preocupaba con muchos quehaceres,
• Colosenses 3:1-2 Si, pues, habéis resucitado con Cristo, buscad las cosas de arriba, donde está Cristo sentado a la diestra de Dios. 2  Poned la mira en las cosas de arriba, no en las de la tierra.
• Hebreos 12:1-2a  Por tanto, nosotros también, teniendo en derredor nuestro tan grande nube de testigos, despojémonos de todo peso y del pecado que nos asedia, y corramos con paciencia la carrera que tenemos por delante,   2  puestos los ojos en Jesús, el autor y consumador de la fe, 

2. En que le dictemos nuestra voluntad.

• Lucas 10:40b y acercándose, dijo: Señor, ¿no te da cuidado que mi hermana me deje servir sola? Dile, pues, que me ayude.
• 2 Corintios 12:8 respecto a lo cual tres veces he rogado al Señor, que lo quite de mí.
• Lucas 22:42 diciendo: Padre, si quieres, pasa de mí esta copa; pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.

3. En que estemos descontentos.

• Lucas 10:41 Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Marta, Marta, afanada y turbada estás con muchas cosas.
• Filipenses 4:6 Por nada estéis afanosos, sino sean conocidas vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con acción de gracias.
• Mateo 6:33 Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
