I can’t just spend $50 on Adobe Pro and call it a day, I need to subscribe for $14.99 a month. Then I either end up forgetting to cancel it and pay more money, or I do remember to cancel it, and end up effectively paying $14.99 every time I need to convert. barf. 🤮🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

I understand and agree with all of Mike’s points, but I’m also so burnt out on subscriptions that the only 3 I don’t dread paying are my Apple One, LastPass, and Jupiter Party subscriptions. I’m at the point where if I’m going to use an app more than once, I will gladly pay a $50 or $100 lifetime sub rather than pay $5 a month and have yet another subscription to track. Adobe kills me with this specifically. I often have to convert pdf to word documents; maybe 8 times a year. Well, (continued)

Google's actions will have serious life-alrering effects for people. Teachers, daycare workers, anyone really who works with children, folks with Federal security clearances that would probably be revoked in the short term while the investigation proceeds. All of those people could lose their jobs as a result of this even if they're completely innocent of any wrongdoing. I feel this seeking out of new photos instead of matching known ones is a step too far causing far more harm than good.

Have you considered Twitch as a platform for continued monetization? It has a culture of cheering streamers on with monetary rewards. While it isn’t open source and is a single platform, it might be a good place for diversifying your income. People stream all kinds of things, like tweaking their dotfiles to devops to live coding. Maybe stream some of your server maintenance, Mike could livestream his personal development. Now if only peertube had boosts and emotes built in…

I don't want to live on this planet anymore. I'm curious how Google trained that model. You can train with hashes.
