Do you remember the gleanings from God's plan for Israel? The people of Israel were commanded by God to leave grain in the corners of their fields and any grain that had fallen to the ground. It was to be for the poor, the needy, and strangers that were in the land (Isaiah 17). Jeremiah also warned Israel that God was bringing judgment upon that nation because that had forgotten to leave gleanings for the poor (Jeremiah 49:9).
