For their book, A Thousand Cuts: The Bizarre Underground World of Collectors and Dealers Who Saved the Movies (University Press of Mississippi, 2016) Dennis Bartok and Jeff Joseph interviewed many of these collectors and learned about the issues they faced, both in finding their own special treasures, as well as the legal issues suffered by some of them.
