Deion Sanders is widely regarded as one of the most electrifying and talented football players of all time. He played professionally for 14 years, and was a two-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowl selection. His career began at Florida State University, where he was a three-time All-American.

At Florida State, Sanders was a standout athlete and a leader on the field. He was a two-time Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and he was named a first-team All-American in 1987. He was also the first player in Jackson State history to have his jersey retired.

Sanders decided to leave Jackson State for the University of Colorado. This decision was controversial, as many felt that Sanders had a responsibility to remain at Jackson State and help the program grow. Sanders, however, felt that the University of Colorado offered him a better opportunity to develop as a coach and prepare for the NFL.

At Florida State, Sanders was an immediate star. He was a two-time All-Big Eight selection, and he was named a first-team All-American in 1989. He also set the NCAA single-season record for punt return yards with 517. Sanders' success at Colorado helped him become the fifth overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft.
