"This is a marathon, not a sprint" is a reminder that I keep on my kitchen wall. As my oldest child is quickly approaching the teen years, I find this statement to be so true. This conversation today is so foundational to the parenting philosophy that allows me to make it through the challenges of the day to day while still keeping the end in mind. Even on the most difficult days, I can choose to remember the high calling God has placed on my life as the mother of these children and believe that if He has given me these children to mother and He will equip me to raise them to have every opportunity to know and serve Him.
Jean Thomason is back with me again today! She was on an episode with me on October 4th called Sing Through The Day. If you missed that one, I would encourage you to go back and listen to that as it was full of so much encouragement and truth!
She has been a voice in my home for many years as the voice of the character that she created, Miss Pattycake. She created this character as a way to bring music full of the truth of God's word and of God's creation to children all around the world.
She wrote a wonderful book called Sharing God's Big Love with Little Lives. It is rich with so much scriptural wisdom and truth for anyone who works with children. It is an easy read that will leave you refreshed and with a renewed since of purpose in the daily work that God has called you to as you mother your children.
