Chris Gammel (Podcast co-host of The Amp Hour/EEVBLOG) is also located in Raleigh. He is associated with RIOT (Raleigh IoT) and is hosting an event with that organisation. You two should meet sometimes, geeking out over electronics.

1890 is the year Wyoming became a US state, but I use btrfs as my filesystem of choice and Chris, I onow youve used it before. I am curious if either of you know if theres a tool to report drive statistics like health and free space. I know btrfs can do this by itself, but Id rather get it in a GUI tool on a standard webpage or something if I could.

My home pods and Siri also seem to be way worse. I used to be able to say hey Siri it’s movie time or open the middle garage door. Now she usually says one moment….. very frustrating. Please keep us up to date if a fix shows up. Mycroft seems like the fix but 300$ is a steep hardware entry point. I had reserved one of their mark IVs for a dollar but couldn’t pull the trigger when the time to buy showed up. got two HomePod minis instead. voice recognition is a rough space right now I feel like.

I am also a big believer in and fan of your support for the Matrix ecosystem. I've run my own homeserver for a couple years now, and have given you lots of feedback and moral support for running Matrix. But I want to chime in to say that I also fully support your use of Discord. This isn't a zero-sum game. Self Hosting is a journey, and shows like this are here to help light the way. But if the neophytes are on Discord, you have to meet them there to bring them into the tent. CONTINUES...

CONTINUED... Once they are on the path, the show and community are here to help them until they too see the value of solutions like Matrix. I am glad you have a couple Matrix rooms for the Self Hosted show. Maybe encourage people to engage there too and pay attention to them enough to nurture their growth. Too bad there isn't a bridge that is good enough to tie them together yet for your use. A shame. That is the Matrix way, though... bridge all the things. Peace! ✌️

Boost follow-up: not only does Authentik proxy applications that adhere to a specific protocol, it can also form a protective layer around "dumb"-applications like PupCloud or Jackett. It has an internal build-in proxy but that's optional.

sorry did not do the testing I should have. if I am on or off my LAN I get great pings or better on Tailscale then my WiFi. I am switching my dns names to use Tailscale… setup backup LAN IP address with 2nd dns names. new problem… I live in a 3 story townhouse, 650~700 sqtFt per level, 1 Unifi AP on top & lower floor, but I get poor speeds and connections on 2nd floor. I should not need a 3rd Unifi AP do I? tried Unifi tools but all my neighbors with their ISP modems/routers set up poorly.
