In this episode, I sat down with Stephanie Acker, founder of Everyplace, for a wide-ranging conversation about refugees, immigration, dignity, and what it really means to help people without reducing them to a crisis. We explored how fear, media narratives, policy failures, and historical injustice shape the way societies respond to displaced people, while also coming back again and again to a simple truth: before anyone is labeled a refugee or immigrant, they are a fellow human being. Stephanie shared how her own background, family history, and years of working alongside refugee and immigrant communities shaped her perspective on belonging, policy, and compassion. We also dove into the heart of Stephanie’s work at Everyplace: helping refugee-led communities create beauty, ownership, and a greater sense of home in the places where they are rebuilding their lives. Rather than focusing only on need, she asks communities where beauty already exists and what they dream of creating next. That opened up a deeper conversation about empowerment versus dependency, the ethics of humanitarian work, colonial history, responsibility, and why beauty is not a luxury but something essential to the human spirit. This was ultimately a conversation about how we see each other, how we repair what has been broken, and what kind of neighbors we choose to be.Everyplace: https://www.every-place.org/Stephanie Acker on LinkedIn: https://it.linkedin.com/in/stephanieackerEveryplace on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/everyplaceorgDisorganized Productions: https://disorganizedproductions.com/Buy me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Disorganizedproductions #DisorganizedProductions #Episode135 #BeyondBorders #StephanieAcker #Everyplace #Humanity #HumanConnection #Refugees #RefugeeStories #Migration #Immigration #HumanRights #Dignity #Belonging #Empowerment #Compassion #FindingBeauty #Hope #CommunityBuilding #RefugeeEmpowerment #SocialJustice #CulturalDiversity #HumanitarianWork #IndependentPodcast #QuestionEverything #ChallengePerspectives #MeaningfulConversations #PodcastInterview #WeAreAllHuman #ChaosCreatesHarmony
