Police have charged 20 people and 30 tonnes of high grade gold-bearing ore has been seized following a police sting in the Goldfields.

Over three days last week, authorities coordinated an operation in Kalgoorlie which resulted in 56 charges being handed out.

It's alleged the bikie associates stole the materials from mine sites before using mercury to extract the precious metal in backyard refineries.
