A legend of the Old West, Billy the Kid started his life as Henry McCarty, the son of Irish Catholic parents in New York City. Orphaned at 14 years old, Billy took to gambling and stealing in the American south before rising to become one of the most notorious figures in the Lincoln County War. Constantly on the run, evading sheriffs, getting capture and escaping jail more than once before meeting his end at just 21 years old, Billy the Kid became of piece of American folklore.
