Join us on this episode as we look at 7 verses from scripture that will definitely help us to survive some of the pitfalls we may face and also help you to become a champion for Christ on todays biggest stage...Social Media!
Follow along as we discuss this very important topic:
1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” — You may have a lot of FB friends but are they good for you?
Ephesians 4:29 ‘Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear’ — We can destroy each other or build others up with our words.
Romans 1:18 ‘For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.’ — When seeking truth, social media/web is not the best source…. God’s word is!
James 3:1 ‘Not many should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we will receive a stricter judgment.’ — Many today are teaching online and there are many getting their teaching from social media sources — we need to be wise in both area’s.
Proverbs 12:16 ‘A fool’s displeasure is known at once, but whoever ignores an insult is sensible.’ — Especially when we speak the name of Christ, sharing the gospel, we may be ridiculed for our faith - we are called to be sensible in the midst of insult.
2 Timothy 3:1-9 “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” — Speaking about the state of our world — How do we balance avoidance of ‘such people’ and still be a good witness sharing the Good News?
Proverbs 18:1 ‘One who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound wisdom.’ — Social media began our tendency to isolate, the Pandemic solidified it. We need each other as we were created as social creatures that thrive on love and a sense of belonging.
