For a lot of people, the first thing or even the only thing they think of when they hear Bitcoin is that it’s bad for the environment. My guest Daniel Batten started in that camp, in fact he’s been an investor in climate tech for a number of years now, but after looking into the facts his conclusion was that Bitcoin is not only less harmful than it’s often painted to be, but it’s actually crucial to our fight against climate change and our achieving a transition to renewable energy.
We talk about how Bitcoin miners are a unique type of electricity customer that actually makes it easier to build out renewable energy sources, how they are already helping stabilize the power grid in places like Texas, and then we get into what Daniel’s most excited about: using Bitcoin mining to reduce methane emissions. We even talk about Japan a bit at the end, so give it a listen and let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy.
