Welcome to Restore 2022! This is another episode where Peter and Maki discuss answers to the questions that have been raised by our community of faith while reading the bible together. In the episode we discuss some of the questions that have risen from reading Matthew's gospel.
If you have questions you’d like discussed in future podcasts please send them through to restore@cairnsroad.org
During this book, we had 3 sermons, which were summed up by the speakers like this:
Matthew 1:1-17
Women have been powerless, faced prejudice, felt shame and pain but Jesus came to change that narrative and bring equality. He did this through his life, death and resurrection which brings us righteousness, redemption, relationship and restoration. As a community of Christians this means we can all come to Jesus knowing that he sees us all as equal to each other.
Matthew 9:18-31
God's Word has declared His wonderful promises to us. Promises that we may live in perfect love, joy and peace, and many other things, always. His grace has provided these things for us in the person of Jesus, so that we can live in them always! By faith we receive them. Choose to bring your experience up so that it matches what the Word of God has declared! Believe God can do this, for according to your faith let it be done to you.
Matthew 18
We must stop buying into the proud world in which we live. To live our best life for God, we must humble ourselves, taking the lowly position of a child and serving others, just as Jesus did. God’s kingdom is upside down: it is about service not status. But more than just acts of humility: God wants our heart.
