James Ishmael Ford, Roshi, was ordained a Soto Zen priest in 1969. He received dharma transmission from Jean Kennet, Roshi, in 1971. For many years he studied with John Tarrant and received Inka from hi in 2005. Today he is Senior Guiding Teacher Emeritus with Boundless Way Zen and the senior priest at Blue Cliff Zen, a network of practice groups in California, Washington and Pennsylvania. He has authored five books including Zen Master Who?, If You’re Lucky Your Heart Will Break, and most recently Introduction to Zen Koans: Learning the Language of Dragons.
