Republican US Representative Devin Nunes of the Fresno area made the bombshell announcement yesterday that he will quit Congress at the end of this month to become CEO of Donald Trump’s new media organization--a move that no one saw that one coming. This is also on the heels of Democrat Representative Jackie Speier’s decision to retire at the end of next year, opening up a Democratic safe seat on the Peninsula. Yesterday she endorsed Assemblyman Kevin Mullin to succeed her in Congress, making that race a lot less competitive.
