The Mom Bod Series
In this episode, we are talking about one of life’s greatest inconveniences and yet one of it’s greatest gifts…..your period. Since our podcast is all about exploring what you cannot control versus what you can control, we wanted to dive into this topic since our hormones and cycles are driven by our genes and yet the implications of those hormones on us physically and emotionally are so crazy making that we wondered if there is anything in our control. We are all about education of your genes to help you with your body acceptance journey, but we know that tips and tricks to get through a monthly pain in the ass….or should we say, uterus, might be beneficial.
We interview Amanda Montalvo, RD whose focus is on helping women navigate their cycles, care for their bodies, and find what works best for them. We have candid discussions about gentle nutrition, the clinical definition of detox, how to heal your body without buying into the wellness culture messaging, and how to support your body through it’s monthly cycle with rest, movement, and nourishment. We also sync up in our cycles mid-convo, discuss period privilege and the flaws in the women’s health care system, and develop a new hashtag #bleedandchill that we are pretty sure will go viral.
