Today, up to 43% of Australian children suffer from chronic illnesses. While the government seems to be at a loss to explain why our kids seem to be getting sicker, Judy Wilyman's research points to a singular culprit: vaccines. We speak with Judy about her PhD which explores the role that vaccines play in controlling infectious diseases. An important early note, throughout the episode, Judy emphasises that she's not against vaccines. Instead, her research has led her to be sceptical about the number of vaccines that are injected into kids. We talk about her journey from being a science teacher to studying her PhD.
