John 18:1-32

1. The proper use of power, v. 1-11

If you find it hard to trust God does that mean God needs to prove Himself more to you or you need to get to know more about the character of God such that trust is the natural response to what you know to be true?

a) the proper use of power is stewardship 

b) power is often demonstrated in what you don’t do

2. God comes to us in ways that are familiar, v. 12-18

3. God knows everything, v. 15-27

Here is why this is important…

a)we relate to God on the basis of our knowledge of Him.

b) there is always room for growth because God is infinite

c) my life can change

4. Religion blinds us to the big picture, v. 28-32

Today we read about Peter who denied being a follower of Jesus.  Ever find yourself in situations where you could have done more to identity as a Christian but didn't?  What was the emotional aftermath like for you? 

What, if anything, would have to immediately change in you if you embraced the truth that God knows everything? 

How do you use your personal power? 

If religion gives us a sense of control then what does Christianity do? 

Are you more focussed on the outside, what people think, or the inside, who you really are?
