The Mom Bod Series
Do you struggle with using the scale to measure your worth, worry about how your food choices will impact the number on the scale, or justify your daily weigh-in as a way to “just keep an eye” on your weight? Even a casual relationship with scale can impact our self-worth and keep us from honoring our hunger and fullness so today we are tackling the impact of the scale on our mental and physical health. We interview McCall Dempsey, founder of “Southern Smash” and Eating Disorder advocate, about her recovery story and how it has become her mission to help people break up with the scale. We answer the big question: “should Mom’s get rid of the scale?” and explore how stepping on the scale, and altering your food intake as a result, will be something your children observe and subtly absorb. McCall gives us specific examples of how to find freedom from the scale and a fun challenge to turn your scale into art then get out the sledge hammer and smash the worth right out of that piece of metal! May we find freedom by stepping off the scale and instead doing the deep, inner work to heal our insecurities without changing our body.
