Love has been the subject of conversation, action plays, dramas, books, music, wars and everything in between for as long as there's been people. Kellan describes how love is a choice, love is gratitude. That is our fourth stone in the pillar of love. Kellan describes three parts to this. First is dependence, second is inter-dependence and third is divine trust. Each of these will mean different things to us at different stages in our life. 

Kellan describes how how his depression shaped his being a dad and all of the problems that being an undiagnosed depressive brings, such as, addictions, feelings of worthlessness, and engaging in self-sabotage. Kellan's gratitude for love comes in knowing that there is a divine plan for each person, no matter where they've been, including his own self-described "crappy parenting."

This is where dependent comes in - do you hand over control to someone else? As a parent, how much do you control your kids? With being dependent on someone else, resentment can grow, in the right (or wrong) circumstances. Remember being a rebellious teenager? Being dependent on another doesn't mean that you have go give up control or your agency. Healthy relationships include love and gratitude.
