There are four basic needs that every human being has: 1. Acceptance 2. Identity 3. Security and 4. Purpose. In order to get these needs met we automatically depend on the those who are closest to us. When we were children, we'd go to our parents to have these needs met, however as we grow older, it's critical that we learn to have our needs met through a relationship with Jesus Christ. If we fail to learn this invaluable skill of learning to always rely on Jesus to meet our needs we'll drain the life out of our closest relationships. If we continue to rely on people to fulfill our needs, we create unrealistic expectations that will drive people away. Jesus wants us to love and serve people, not suck the life out of them.
