Romans 13:1-7

1. Authority figures are God’s design, v. 1

2. Authority requires that there be a consequence, v. 2-4  

good=approval

bad=punishment

3. Authority requires subjection, v. 5

-Matthew 24:12

a) external consequence- God’s wrath

b) internal consequence- conscience

4. Authority requires responsibility, v. 6-7

As a parent do you bear the sword in vain?

Does your parenting style prepare your children to respect the governing authorities outside your home?

Do you think you have to agree with someone to respect them?

Is your conscience clear when it come to the authority figures in your life?

Do you currently owe taxes, money, respect or honor to anyone?
