Concerns over the safety of e-cigarettes have skyrocketed as the country has experienced thousands of cases of lung illnesses linked to vaping. At the same time, studies have found that vaping among high school students has exploded. There was a 78% increase in vaping among high school students between 2017 and 2018 alone. KRLD goes in depth, talking with concerned lawmakers, health care providers, and even a 16-year-old high school junior who spent time in the hospital after getting addicted to vaping. We look at the laws being passed to keep e-cigarette products from getting into the hands of children, and what more the experts feel needs to be done.
