Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Church.
Our theme for the month of April is “Recognising and Responding to the Living Lord.”
Today we are talking about The Spirit Within and the World Without.
With what do you associate the word “power”?
The power of a river, is instructive when harnessed at a dam but destructive when in a rampaging flood?
The power of atomic energy, capable of levelling Hiroshima of peering cities?
The powerful influence of a government leaders?
The power of peer pressure?
Power can be defined as “The means to achieve the assignment.”
A car without a motor is only good for looking at, its not taking you anywhere.
The car needs engine power to accomplish its purpose.
Likewise, Christians are to be more than showpieces of morality.
We need the power of the Holy Spirit accomplish our mission in the world.
We are called to be salt and light, a preserving and uplifting influence among people, God’s change agents in the world.
Jesus assures us that the power we need to fulfil this mission is available.
Acts 1:8, But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
The Spirit within is the power to face the world without.
This gift of victorious power is affirmed in 1 John 4:4, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word.
When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer.
Theres nothing thats too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
